Our Modern-day Alternative:
Toxic processed bread
contains:
Potassium bromate: is a common oxidizing agent used to strengthen dough is possible human carcinogen and is allowed by the FDA to be used in foods.
Azodicarbonamide (ADA): This additive is used as a dough conditioner and bleaching agent. ADA can break down into semicarbazide (SEM), which has been shown to cause tumors in animal studies. It is banned in several countries due to health concerns.
Monoglycerides and Diglycerides: These emulsifiers are used to improve texture and extend shelf life. They may contain trans fats, which are associated with increased risk of heart disease and other health issues.
High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS): While not exclusively an additive to bread, HFCS is often used to sweeten processed bread products. Excessive consumption of HFCS has been linked to obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome.
